MORE TO COME!!
In conjunction with the 10th Annual Jazzin’ on Jefferson outdoor music festival, the Jefferson East Business Association (JEBA) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Urban Priorities Committee are working with local entrepreneurs, architects, and artists to create June on Jefferson — a month-long pop-up business series.
Selected businesses will set up shop inside five newly renovated storefronts in the heart of the historic Jefferson-Chalmers commercial district. In addition to opening for business, pop-ups will include several days of event programming; including art openings, live music, movie nights, and more. Doors open Friday, June 14 -- the inaugural night of Jazzin’ on Jefferson. The series continues every Friday and Saturday until July 6, 2013.
Storefronts targeted for the project are being designed with the assistance of volunteers from the AIA Detroit’s Urban Priorities Committee. Designers are currently working with vendors and business owners to create usable, modern spaces.
The objective of this project is to combine entrepreneurship, cultural activities and performance art to economically enhance the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood and to accelerate its physical and economic revitalization.
