It's a midwest love party tonight at the Berkley Front as Detroit's own Science Fair hosts brethren from Cleveland including internationally famed Nicky English and The Hedgehog's Dilemma.
The Science Fair's funky, danceable math rock comes from a vast array of influences including Minus The Bear, Marvin Gaye and The Killers. In support of their latest offering Odd Years, TSF brings a high energy live show to the intimate loft space at the Berkley Front. DJ Bredd Loaf will be keeping it funky all night with some old school funk and gangsta rap and forgotten pop.
Joining TSF on the bill is a man who needs no introduction, but would certainly like one anyway, solo artist Nicky English. Certifiably nuts, gypsy singer, composer, actor, and all around swell dude, Nicky brings his trio back to Michigan for first time since 2011, after which he was feared dead in a reported bear attack.
Rounding out the night is The Hedgehog's Dilemma, an amalgam of rock, alt-country and pop, the group has crafted a sound rich with melody, catchy tunes and a frequently danceable groove.
As always, the Berkley Front has a great selection of beers on tap and friendly bar staff to keep you on top of your game. Doors open upstairs at at 9pm, cover is only $5.
