Wild At Heart
Still getting back to normal here. Got tickets for the LPGA here in Rochester and looking forward to seeing the Lumineers this Friday (they are playing Pine Knob on Thursday). I had the enjoyment of seeing a great folk artist this past week by the name of Shawn Phillips who was known for his great albums in the early 70's as well as work as a session artist for Donovan. He has also worked with Clapton, Winwood and the Beatles (appearing on the song "Lovely Rita"). His later work crosses into rock, clasical, funk, etc and he has managed to put out an amazing collection of music without ever achieving the success he deserved. He traveled a lot which opened up his horizons to musical trends in other countries like England, Italy and South Africa and his growing musicianship blended well with his ambitious songs (similar in a way to artist Van Dyke Parks and Leonard Cohen). Here is a cool song by Shawn.
I'll leave you with a suggestion for a few cool shows for the week, esp the Onion Music Festival which also includes Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers on Belle Isle a cool week after the Grand Prix.
